The Darien Historical Society is graciously opening the Society on Sunday, March 4th as a free day at the Darien Historical Society for At Home In Darien members and volunteers to view the society’s exhibit, “Long May She Wave: The Evolution of the Flag,”  from 12 pm – 2:30 pm.  Plus they are offering a discount on the Lincoln Flag lecture that day at 3pm.  Ilene Frank, chief curator of the Connecticut Historical Society, will tell the fascinating story of the flag that decorated Lincoln’s box at Ford’s Theater and its rediscovery after 76 years in a cluttered storage area. Admission to this program will be discounted for At Home members (with your membership card), so $2.50 for Darien Historical Society members and $10 for non-members. Also, if you become a member of the Society that day at the special At Home In Darien discounted rate of 10 percent off at every level, admission to the program is free. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 7 pm at Darien High School, 80 HIgh School Lane
Theatre 308 presents the 1984 American musical drama written by Dean Pitchford which tells the story of city teenager Ren MacCormack who moves to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned, and his rebellious spirit shakes up the populace.  Seniors can attend this dress rehearsal performance free of charge and enjoy free transportation to and from the High School for the 7:00 pm performance. At Home In Darien has arranged for transportation at approximately 6:30pm to the High School show for seniors using volunteer drivers.  Seniors can be conveniently picked up at their homes, and returned home safely after the show. Please call At Home In Darien at 203-655-2227 to reserve your seat and to arrange transportation to and from the show.
